He enlisted as a Private in Company F, 33rd Virginia Infantry on 8 April 1862, but deserted soon after. He rejoined his Company on 6 September 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was absent, wounded and sick, in Hardy County, VA (now WV) through at least November 1862, and again listed as a deserter on 31 December 1862, with no later military record.
