An unmarried 26 year old laborer in Donaldsonville, he enlisted as Private, Company E, 7th Louisiana Infantry on 7 June 1861 at Camp Moore, LA. He was captured near Richmond, VA on 9 June 1862 at Port Republic, VA and exchanged at Aikens' Landing, VA on 5 August.

On the Campaign

He was killed in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
