Before Sharpsburg
In May 1862, age 16, he mustered as Private, Company E, Palmetto Sharpshooters. He was wounded at Fraser's Farm (Glendale), VA on 30 June 1862.
On the Campaign
He was wounded in action at Sharpsburg on 17 September 1862.
The rest of the War
He was surrendered with his Company at Appomattox Court House on 9 April 1865.
