He enlisted in Company D (renamed E), 6th Alabama Infantry on 7 May 1861 in Montgomery, AL. He was 6'1" tall, with fair complexion, brown hair, and grey eyes. He was captured in action at Seven Pines, VA on 1 June 1862. He returned to his unit, date not given.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by gunshot in action on 17 September 1862 at Sharpsburg.

The rest of the War

He was furloughed for his wound through at least the end of December 1862. He was killed in action at Gettysburg, PA on 3 July 1863.
