Before Antietam

He mustered into service in Company B on 12 July 1861.

On the Campaign

He was wounded by a gunshot in action at Antietam on 17 September 1862, his frontal (skull) bone fractured and his right eye destroyed.

The rest of the War

He was discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate on 17 November 1862 and began receiving a disability pension in January 1863.
